Artist Lecture Series: LaToya Ruby Frazier

Photographer and media artist LaToya Ruby Frazier will give a lecture to students April 16th in the Student Commons, from 10:30am-12:30pm.

Photographer and media artist LaToya Ruby Frazier uses the conventions of social documentary to probe and upend traditional narratives of urban growth and the triumph of industry. Exposing the underbelly of corporate practices—rapid de-industrialization and outsourcing, environmental negligence, and inner-city gentrification—Frazier’s work examines the crises of postindustrial communities and the class divisions wrought by capital. – Whitney Museum of American Art

A visual artist from Braddock PA, LaToya is the Associate Curator for the Mason Gross Galleries in the Visual Arts Department for Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She was appointed Critic in Photography at Yale School of Art in 2012.

Frazier will present to students 4/16 in the student commons theatre from 10:30am-12:00pm.
